Clifford • Smith Gallery
celebrates marriage equality for all
In keeping with the gallery's mission of demystifying
the contemporary art scene and making gallery-going less intimidating,
each June the Clifford • Smith Gallery mounts an exhibition
of work that has a broader appeal than our normal program. Our previous
exhibits in June have been, "Canine" - photographs by Henry
Horenstein to benefit the Animal Rescue League and, "H: looking
at him looking back", a group show of male photography. These
exhibitions are designed to introduce the non-gallery going public
to our regular clientele and to our regular program in a relaxed setting.
This June, in celebration of the momentous step forward
for equal rights in Massachusetts, we have asked 6 local artists working
in glass and metal to join forces in a group exhibition of work geared
to all those planning a wedding or looking for a unique gift for friends
and family who are getting married.
Julia Groos, Laurie Savage and Kimon Yannopoulos have
all created special wedding band collections for both men and women.
They will also display a variety of bracelets, earrings and necklaces,
each in their own unique style.
Emily Abbott, George McA. Hughes, and Hilary McHugh
display one-of-a kind blown glass bowls, platters, vases, vessels
and glasses perfect for gift giving or collecting.
On Sunday, June 13th, from 11am - 1pm, the gallery will
host brunch with the artists. The public is invited to meet the artists
and discuss special ring, jewelry, or glass commissions to suit their
particular needs or interests. Please RSVP for the brunch to the gallery.
