The Sectional by Kbond_takeout Karen Kimmel's Kbond sectionals are comtemplative units to be utilized for speculation and or recreation. Each carpeted unit in the installation has a color coded area for sitting and an area for gaming. To complete the environment, the artist has painted the walls of the gallery corresponding colors with a modified color wheel painted as a focal point at the end of the gallery. |

Sectionals come in a variety of configurations including individual, tandem and group, with each sectional offering a different set of game options. Games include recurring patterns of doing, undoing and redoing, situations of balance and exchange and plays on probability and possibility. Each unit plays between two states: active and passive. Games, when not being utilized, collapse into unassuming/simple structures, but when activated unfold into more involved situations, exposing a variety of choices and options to those in the game. The situation units provide individuals and/or groups with a defined ground for personal time, reflection, meditation and/or activity, interaction, play. |
